About Us

Shippensburg was established as a western colonial outpost in July 1730. It is the second oldest community west of the Susquehanna River. It is the location of a natural spring, a fort during the French and Indian War, and an institute for teachers founded in 1871 (designated Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania on July 1, 1983).

Over the years, the town has hosted several industries and businesses, including the Beistle Company, Volvo, and the SKF Ball Bearing Co. SKF moved into the area in 1948. In December 1997, it moved from Shippensburg. Renaissance is on what was the SKF property.

In 1974, SKF built a two-story brick building in front of the factory on West King Street. It was used to support office staff. After SKF moved in 1997, the property was purchased by E&M Properties, Inc. It was rented for years to Agway (later merged with Cargill). The property is now owned by JNB Capital LLC.

It is the bottom floor of this building that became Renaissance Events Facility.

After the sale of a local events facility, Mayor Coy approached JNB Capital with the idea of an events facility. Renovation began in  November 2020 and was completed exactly two years later.  This morphed into a banquet hall, full commercial kitchen, and smoking lounge (the only one in Shippensburg!).

The Lounge at Renaissance is a separate entity, and is open daily to the public.

In the Lounge, Renaissance’s own branded organic cigars are sold. Made in Dominican Republic and Ecuador, these cigars are free from chemicals, dyes, and additives. Organic pipe tobacco and other tobacco products are also for sale.

Outside, Renaissance boasts a London Park and a patio replicating a Paris cafe.

Future renovation includes an outdoor courtyard for live music, dining, wine tastings & pairings, smoking parties, and picture-taking.

We are also renovating the top floor to host a high class coffee shop serving organic coffees, teas, and smoothies; fresh French pastries will also be on the menu. We’re calling it Pari Cafe.
